The Power of Aging

We live in an unprecedented time where people are living longer and making changes to their lives like never before in history. The definition of success changes when you hover around the age of 50. It’s finding and finally doing that “thing” that we’ve been putting off for years. For the fast majority of us, we stop worrying about competition and impressing the masses. We want to connect and have more meaning in our lives. We yearn to have our passions guide our decisions both personally and professionally. This mind shift tends to make us happier and more appreciative of what we already have in our lives.

At some point we accept who we are, stop comparing to others, and we get bolder. There’s a great lyric sung by Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit which sums up why we have the urge to keep moving forward as it proclaims “Life is a lesson, you learn it when you’re through”.

We don’t want to stop because there is so much we have yet to accomplish. So much to learn. So much to experience. Our wisdom kicks in, confidence starts to take over if it hasn’t already, and we don’t care what people think of us as much.

It’s never too late to reinvent yourself. To get a shot of adrenaline, listen to this short three and half minute excerpt from a Tedx Talk by David Harry Stewart who also was one of our podcast interviews (podcast number BF 013.) David Harry Stewart Tedx Talk. David speaks on our generation and how we created all of the innovation in the digital age as computing was in its infancy during our youth. We set the wheels in motion and now the opportunity presents itself for us to take advantage of it and use it as an outlet for our creativity.
