So what does a man who’s been in the food industry for forty years do in his early sixties? He delves into the food truck industry with a healthy alternative!
Maurice Drake, affectionately known as Uncle Mo, started Uncle Mo’s Pea Pie Cafe out of Kent, Ohio. Uncle Mo has been labeled a healthy food evangelist who loves sharing fresh nutritious food with everyone.
As Maurice was contemplating retirement, his good friend Steve Moore encouraged him to start a food truck. And as an extra incentive, Steve gave him an old truck to be refurbished. Little by little Maurice and friends contributed finances and time to get the truck up to code.
While the launch date is mid-2018, Uncle Mo still cooks pea pies for fundraising events using locally organically grown fresh vegetables in his recipes. His goal is to hit towns, cities, markets, and music festivals in the Northeast Ohio area.
