Erik holds a Black Belt in Tang Soo Do and has trained in nearly a dozen arts (both in American and Eastern styles) over the last 28 years. He has been a solid fixture in the fitness industry for 14 years, teaching at fitness gyms all over the Bay Area concentrating in the Peninsula.

He has a business partner Tammy Shueh and team of instructors that help him guide his multiple morning and evening class schedule.

Two things will happen when you go Erik’s classes. First you will get a tremendous workout and second, little by little you will be trained on how to defend yourself. His mastery of martial arts shows his attention to detail as he emphasizes the importance of proper techniques in getting the most from the instruction.

The attitude at Impact Kickboxing Fitness is one of noncompetitive encouragement to push yourself without concern of the different levels of proficiency. People work together as they team up during sparring drills.

Erik is also a video game designer and producer. The remarkable thing is that Impact Kickboxing Fitness is his side business.

In this episode you’ll hear:

  • Erik’s story as a video game designer and martial arts enthusiast.
  • How the idea of starting his own fitness company came to reality.
  • The challenges of working two careers and the future plans for Impact.
  • How to engage with your clients to build up your business.
  • How to hire the right people.
